Web 2.0 Tools

Image
Hello everyone!  I hope this blog finds you well.   Last time my blog was dedicated to Evaluation/Assessment, making a distinction between both terms, the benefits of assessment and its types.  As long as until now we have been dealing with topics about the use of technology in education, multimedia, Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences and cooperative learning, constructivism and DDDE model (including Design and Develop phase) and other topics such as using social media in education, teaching vocabulary through technology and evaluation/assessment.  I decided to describe the use of technology in a more practical perspective in this blog by dealing with some web tools needed in our teaching.                                                                                 What are Web 2.0 tools? Web 2.0 tools are free digital programs that can be used for creating and sharing student-generated projects and products. They are interactive, multi-purpose, easy-to-use

Evaluation/Assessment

Hello everyone!  I hope this blog finds you well.   Have you ever felt like you deserved more after your teacher evaluated you? Well, to tell you the truth, I have. It always happened in those classes where the teacher wanted the students to tell the lesson by heart. It happened when my teacher never explained me what I had done wrong or when I never understood my teachers' handwriting. We don't intend to become like these teachers, so that's why I decided to dedicate this blog to evaluation/assessment.  What I find important to emphasize is that, although we might use both words as synonyms of each-other, they are not really the same. In the figure below you will find a comparison between assessment and evaluation.  I guess we all agree that assessment would make students feel better, wouldn't it?  I read an example about the differences between evaluation and assessment, which I really find meaningful, not only to have in mind in our classes, but a

Develop phase/ Media Components

Hello everyone, Hope this blog finds you well and patient. In my last blog, I wrote about the Design phase. I shared my experience and some tips I think that are helpful to all of us. Now, it is time to discuss about Develop phase in order to be successful in the presentations of our projects.                                                                                                     Even without reading the lecture, we know that the word "Develop" stands for creating or constructing something. In our case, as we could read in the lecture, the Develop phase means to produce the media components such as text, graphics, animations, audio, video as well as the programming (or authoring) of the program.  The last project experience I had was "the Interactive Powerpoint Project". To be honest, I personally find the other two steps "Decide and Design" way easier than Develop phase. I find it easy to decide about the topic, sub topics or to boomerang my

Design phase

Hello everyone.  I hope this blog finds you well.      As long as we are getting closer to the presentation of our project, the topic for this week is "Design step of the DDD-E model". We have been working on the project for weeks. Let's suppose that by deciding the topic we are going to teach, we created the trunk of a tree and step by step we are "dressing" it with branches and leaves.  We could read in the lecture that the design phase helps us “chunk” and organize the information to convey meaning; specify the necessary graphics, sounds, animations, and video; and sequence the project elements in a flowchart. It consists of five sub-phases,which are as mentioned:  Outlining the content Creating flowcharts Specifying screen design Writing storyboards Design guidelines We all have finished with the outlining of the content in the Step 1 of the project and we now we know that we dealt with making the requirements of the project clearer. It als
